There are still in small numbers research aimed on the identification of mechanisms and correlates of depressed mood. The article presents the preliminary results on emotional functioning in subjects with depressive tendencies concerning the mood dynamics, emotion regulation strategies and attentional processing of emotional stimuli. The data analysis revealed: (1) the specificity of mood dynamics (reflected in the decreased energetic arousal) in subclinically depressed subjects under the examination situation; (2) the subclinically depressed individuals have been found to be more likely to use the mood decreasing strategies; (3) in these subjects the attentional processing of emotional stimuli depends on the different individual characteristics (mainly temperamental ones) and also contextual factors; (4) the depressive tendencies differentiate the attentional processing of positive not negative stimuli.
