The sources for the study of the history of the Jews of Tykocin in the years 1795-1914 are scattered over many archives. No records produced by the Jewish community in Tykocin have survived. It is possible to study the life and problems of the Tykocin Jews thanks to documents coming from state administration, church institutions and the administrators representing the owners of the town of Tykocin. The most valuable sources for the study of the history of the Jews of Tykocin are kept at the Archiwum Glówne Akt Dawnych (The Central Archives of Historical Records) in Warsaw in the collections of 'Archiwum Roskie', the Branicki Archives of Bialystok, the Government Revenue and Treasury Commission, the Central Religious Denominations Authority of the Kingdom of Poland and the Government Internal Affairs Commission. Additional sources include documents kept in the state archives in Lomza (the Mazovia County (Powiat) Administration set) and in Białystok (in the collections: the records of the town of Tykocin, the Chancellery of the Lomza Governor, and the Lomza Provincial (Guberniya) Government. Some information about the Jews of Tykocin can be found in the files of the Diocesan Archives in Lomza and the Museum in Tykocin. The registrar files of Tykocin Jews are kept in the Parish Archives in Tykocin, the State Archives in Bialystok and the Archives of the Registrar's Office in Tykocin.
