The paper discusses 'Beczka' a local Opolskie Voivodeship periodical published for 15 years now. The specific nature of local periodicals is outlined. Results are presented that were obtained from qualitative and quantitative analysis of periodical's contents. A history of Silesian local press is briefly recounted and changes are discussed that have affected the Opole Voivodeship's press market since 1989.
