The article presents the scope and forms of public administration activities undertaken to create innovation environment for smali and medium enterprises in the Podkarpacie region. The author focuses on real and declared forms of support of innovative behaviours of SMEs in the region. Barriers and restrictions to innovative activities undertaken by seIf-governments and central administration in the Podkarpacie region are discussed as well.
