This article deals with the notation of one n in adjectival determinative compounds of the type kamenouhelný 'carboniferous' and considers whether to write one n or two n's in the coordinative compound adjectives of the type kamen(n)o(-)cihlový 'of stone and bricks', vápen(n)o(-)pískový 'of sand lime' and in coordinative adjectives with the first component amon(n)o- 'ammonium'. In this context, it draws attention to the discrepancy between the relevant passage in the Grammar of Czech 1 (see MČ 1) and the form vápenopískový mentioned in the current codification and normative dictionaries and manuals. It also touches on whether or not a hyphen should be written between the components of coordinative adjectives. The Czech ways of writing down such adjectives are compared with those found in Slovak.
