The article is devoted to the analysis of the new etymological dictionary of the Russian language, which was published in Moscow. Actually it is the detailed review, where content of definitions, theoretical and methodological base of the etymologic dictionary, are estimated. The author of the article characterizes the distinctive features of the 'Russian etymologic dictionary' positively, mentioning debatable moments in the interpretations of the Russian and Ukrainian words and some incosistentess in the interpretation of their semantic history. The suggested article also contains the etymologic interpretation of certain group of lexemes, that are absent in the register of the 'Russian etymologic dictionary' and a number of annexes to some entries of the vocabularies.
