This article contains the analysis of relationships existing between protection of intellectual property rights and human rights. In the first point of this article you can find an examination of provisions concerning the protection of intellectual property rights in human rights legal acts. In the following sections the author outlines the developments of relationships between intellectual property rights and human rights. An analysis of the most important theories concerning this subject ensues. The author concludes that intellectual property rights are indeed human rights. Thanks to the acceptance of such a theory, it is possible to strengthen the axiological basis of intellectual property rights on the fundamental level. On the other hand, a similar attitude leads to the agreement on the limitations of intellectual property rights for the sake of the accomplishment of other human rights.
