The article emphasizes the importance of the social-democratic politician František Soukup on the road to the establishment of the independent Czechoslovak state. It describes his life before World War I as well as his career in the Social Democratic Party and his activities during the war conflict, when František Soukup became one of the main politician of the Czechoslavic Social Democratic Party.
