This paper constitutes the author's divagations about the development of the pension concepts in Europe over last centuries. The presentation of particular concepts is based on literature study in English and Polish. Besides printed texts, the Internet resources were used to find relevant publica- tions. The research goal is to compare presented concepts and conclusions about the future of pension system in Europe.
