The results of our study on how the minimum wage functions are presented. The level of the minimum wage and its role in the remuneration system at the individual firm level, and its value from the perspectives of employees and employers are discussed. The research is presented in the form of interviews. One hundred eighty businesses, employing over 26 thousand people in total, were interviewed. Many of the questions concerned the issue of raising the minimum wage and the resulting consequences to the employers. The results of the research showed that a large variety of employers with many different salary structures, contrary to the common belief, are ready to raise the minimum wage.
