Genitive sentences problems in Ukrainian language are discussed. Ten structural types of such sentences were distingiushed. It is shown that there is no reason to include the genitive sentences into the impersonality type of sentences. Independence is one of the essential attributes of the subject in genitive sentences. In accordance with their functions the term 'nominative sentence' is proposed instead of 'denominative sentence'.
