The Author of the article discusses costs of a child's disability when it comes to both individual and social costs. Individual costs refer strictly to the child or its closest environment, usually being its family. Social costs, resulting from the child's disability, are connected with expenses incurred directly by the child (ex. rehabilitation expenses), as well as costs indirectly generated by it (ex. nursing allowance payments).
