The author analyzes conceptualization of the idea of microhistory as it was done by Giovanni Levi and a group of Italian historians (Carlo Poni, Carlo Ginzburg) connected with the periodical 'Quaderni Storici'. Also he considers Levi's and Jean Claude Schmidfs work on the culture of young generations. He tries to draw a substantial differences in the idea of microhistory between G. Levi and Cliford Geertz underlining how much the Levi's concept was grounded in the Annales paradigm.
