Österreich feierte in der Zwischenkriegszeit den 12. November als Gründungstag des Staates im Jahre 1918. Tatsächlich wurde dieser Tag zum Nationalfeiertag wegen der „Ausrufung“ der Republik gewählt – nicht wegen der Gründung. Diese war bereits am 30. Oktober 1918 mit Staatsgesetzblatt Nr. 1 erfolgt. Dies ließ auch Bundespräsident Renner, 1918 und 1945 Staatskanzler, auf einem von ihm initiierten Ölbild im Jahre 1946 festhalten eben mit der Aufschrift „Die Gründung der 1. Republik am 30. Oktober 1918“. Leider geriet dieser Gründungstag lange in Vergessenheit und erlebte erst in den letzten Jahrzehnten wieder eine „Auferstehung“.

In the interwar period, Austria celebrated the 12th of November as the founding of the state in 1918. In fact, this day was chosen as a national holiday because of the „proclamation“ of the republic – not because of its founding. This was already done on October 30, 1918 with State Law Gazette No. 1. This was also Federal President Renner, 1918 and 1945 State Chancellor, on an oil painting initiated by him in 1946 hold just with the inscription „The founding of the 1st Republic on 30 October 1918“. Unfortunately, this founding day fell into oblivion for a long time and only in the last decades did it experience a „resurrection“.

V meziválečném období Rakousko slavilo 12. listopad jako založení státu v roce 1918. Ve skutečnosti byl tento den vybrán jako státní svátek kvůli „proklamaci“ republiky – nikoli kvůli jejímu založení. To se stalo stalo 30. října 1918 státním zákonem č. 1. Také na olejomalbě, kterou inicioval spolkový prezident Karl Renner, je nápis „Založení 1. republiky 30. října 1918“. Tento zakladatelský den bohužel na dlouhou dobu upadl v zapomnění a teprve v posledních desetiletích zažil „vzkříšení“.
