The article presents the regional vocabulary concerning the cooking of food on the basis of the Kovno / Kaunas weekly publication 'Chata Rodzinna' (from 1922 to1940). The subject is the vocabulary which differed from the ethnic Polish language in a 20-year period between the First and Second World Wars. The words mainly include old Polish words (17 units) and East-European linguistic expressions (8 words). The share of Russian, Belarusian, and Lithuanian words is somewhat smaller.The words subject to the research are well known in the North-Eastern borderland. Seventeen words were identified in the other sources of the North-Eastern region.16 words are registered by the Kovno / Kaunas and Zmudzki sources which proves that they have powerful roots in the type of Polish language which is the subject of our research.
