The authoress analyses temporal relations in Amharic intentional sentences in which the subordinate clause is connoted by the verb of the main clause. Her approach leads to a schematic presentation of the sequence of tenses rules which govern temporal relations in Amharic intentional sentences. As the obligatory dependent clause of the intentional sentence is always introduced by a verb belonging to a specific group of verbs, she will also propose a list of verbs of this kind and indicate the double semantics of some of them, depending on the [+/- real modality] opposition.
