The article discusses the events related to the anti-Protestant tumult, which took place on the February 4th, 1633 in the city of Lublin. This religious uproar started at the funeral of Jan Weigel, who was a member of the local Calvinist congregation. The tumult broke out when the Protestant mourners defended themselves against a violent attack by the local Jesuit college students, accompanied by a city mob. This bloody fight resulted in deaths and a number of wounded persons on both sides of the conflict. Furthermore, the city disorder continued for the next few days, during which Protestants were robbed and their property vandalized. The tumult took place just a few days before the Seym session, which was to install the new king, Wladyslaw IV. As soon as the king learned about the tumult, he ordered a special commission giving it judicial privileges. The newly established commission was ordered to investigate the causes of the tumult as well as to find and punish the inciters. The work of the commission resulted in finding no guilt on the Calvinist side, however this verdict had no impact on the further events. Later, the whole investigation was overtaken by the 'TrybunaƂ Koronny' (Crown Tribunal) who found, Samuel Makowski, a local physician and an elder of the Lublin Calvinist congregation, to be the guilty one. Makowski's life was spared only because of the high ransom accompanied by official apologies paid to the Catholics. In the aftermath of the tumult, the Reformed services from Lublin were completely discontinued. The Lublin's Calvinists were taken under the care of the nearby Belzyce congregation, which protected by the Orzechowski family still enjoyed vitality and security. :
