The toponomastic research has been surveyed on the territory of Łobez and Novogard districts, which are the part of West Pomerania. The Slavic tribes were settled in this area from 6th to 13th centuries, until the German colonisation. The former Slavic settlement of this region is proved by the set of 188 Slavic place-names, nearly 60 of which have been derived by the Slavic suffix *-ov-. This suffix was used for the derivation of both possessive and topographic names. By 1945, the number of German place-names was nearly three times higher than the number of Slavic toponyms.
