Abstracts

A book review of the first volume of the History of Cinema (2009), edited by Tadeusz Lubelski, Iwona Sowinska and Rafal Syska. The reviewer analyses its didactic value, examines the proposed analysis and presentation of history of cinema, and sees this publication as a meeting point between history (of cinema) and philosophy. The analysis of those themes leads the author to conclude that Silent Cinema orders the existing information on the history of film, constitutes a source of new readings of classic films, challenging previously established myths and stereotypes, and so opens new areas of discussion.
