The reform of the health care system in Poland has triggered the need to pay closer attention to labor costs. This has resulted in a process increasing employment flexibility by way of various contractual forms through which medical services are provided by physicians. This article presents the results of a questionnaire survey aimed at identifying types of compensation for physicians as well as the specifics of their determining factors in the case of physicians employed under various kinds of contracts (employment contracts / contract work) in small and medium–sized health care units in the Kuyavian–Pomeranian Voivodeship.
