Sometimes Polish juridical acts from Ukraine and from Polish-Ukrainian borderland note Ukrainian words earlier than the Ukrainian sources. For example, the word koltky ‘ear-rings’ is recorded in Ukrainian dictionaries from the first half of the 17th c. and in Polish records from Sanok it appears (as a borrowing or quotation) already in the first half of the 15th c. Similarly serhy, another word denoting ‘ear-rings’, is qualified as a Russian borrowing in the Etymological dictionary of the Ukrainian language but it is noted in Polish juridical acts from Kamianets-Podilskyi from the middle of the 16th c. The word ozherelje ‘collar, necklace’, is written in Kyiv manuscript from the beginning of the 15th c., later it was recorded in Ukrainian sources from the first half of the 17th c. Thus, record from Polish juridical acts from Kamianets-Podilskyi from the middle of the 16th c. would be the second one, in addition coming from another part of the Ukrainian territory.
