The paper presents a view on aims of science based on the conviction that science, being essentially a human enterprise, should be grasped philosophically as grounded in an anthropological conception. Accordingly, aims of science are viewed here as being emerged from human needs. In particular, a special, superior role played by cognitive needs, and the problem of cognitive versus utilitarian aims are considered.
