The circumstances of the Slovak Republic’s (SR) entry into the war against the USSR and the subsequent deployment of Slovak units in Operation Barbarossa have been extensively documented in Slovak historiography. Significant advances in understanding this topic have been made possible through research into German-origin documents, both diplomatic and military in nature. Extensive information about the Slovak Army’s involvement in the war against the USSR can be found in reports from the German Military Mission in Slovakia, which served as an advisory body from 1939. Comprehensive information about Slovak units’ activities during the first months of Operation Barbarossa is contained in its quarterly report from 10 October 1941. This document has not been published in its entirety to date, primarily due to its length. The document is published in full, both in the original and in Slovak translation, following established rules for publishing sources on recent history.
