The paper presents the phenomenon of a parallel import. It describes legal aspects and retrieval heuristics of information concerning an imported product, referring to an example of Betaxolol, coming from another EU country. The author discussed the retrieval strategy for a Portuguese product, referring to selected databases, i.e. ATC/DDD Index (WHO BAZYL, the Drug Bank, and the Infarmed. The article describes also the structure and application of the ATC Classification of the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as a method for finding a product in the WHO website search engine.
