The objective of the article is to draw the current and the nearest future development of archaeology as a scientific discipline. One must be aware that archaeology is socially constructed but archeologists should be also concerned on the need of theory. That context creates a space for discussion issues that are brought up from time to time. These are the directions taken by archaeology and the role of theory in marking out this “new” perspective. It is a matter of discussion the shape and nature of the new or modified theories adapted to new fields of research.
