The transnational and multilingual Atlas of the European Languages (Atlas Linguarum Europae – ALE) presents the results of the long-term research of European languages, studied by the traditional methods of areal linguistics. The commentaries accompanying each map provide an inventory of the linguistic material presented on the maps (describing the situation depicted) and additional detailed information. Slovak dialectology participated (indirectly, through the Czechoslovak National Commission of ALE) in the preparation of the project from the very beginning, i.e. from 1965. In the preparation of the elaborations, the material obtained by means of the Questionnaire of the Slavic Linguistic Atlas was utilised. Anton Habovštiak was also a member of the commission.
