The forms of family life are varied within the period of old age and change with the ageing process. PolSenior research has distinguished six most common forms of family life of the aged, comprising over 90% of the population aged 65 or more altogether. Different courses of family life are observed among aged women and among aged men. There are also significant differences in the forms of family life of seniors residing in the country and in cities. The strongest bonds are between the aged and their spouses and children. They also constitute the key support in trouble. The level of accomplishment in socio-psychical needs is the lowest among aged people living alone or single aged people living with adult children.
