It is difficult to understand now, at the threshold of the 21st century, the political phenomenon of the Northern Korea without getting acquainted with the life of a man whose deeds and activity were crucial to the country's fate for over half a century. Who was that man, regarded by his countrymen as a superhuman hero or even political deity? As such, that man had been ascribed features and virtues, which no human being is able to possess. The author presents the origins of the political legend of that man, well-known under the name of Kim Il Sung. The North-Kore an leader gained an unimaginable authority in his country and imposed a system, which was transformed into a model of a totalitarian political organization, isolated and based on a single idea rooted in tradition. The Korean Communist state had reached the heights of the Orwellian vision and implemented the most perfect creation of a doctrinal mind. It beca me a system of totalitarianism accomplished. The author disclosures the background of the legend of the Great Leader. Contrary to the official version Kim Il Sung did not take part in the liberation of Korea by the Red Army in 1945. But Moscow needed an obedient young man, free from collaboration with the Japanese, who might be used to build Moscow's influence zone on the Korean peninsula. Kim's personality cult was not possible without the help of Stalin's emissaries. It was also important that Kim Il Sung was a modest, flexible and very mannerly politician to attract people's blind devotion.
