The paper analyses the contents of a non-periodical publication 'Ruch' (Krakow, 1981) as well as reconstructs the circumstances in which it emerged and eventually was liquidated. As its subheading suggested, it was an 'academic and literary publication issued by students', which was supposed to be a continuation of 'Ognisko', an organ of radical students of the Jagiellonian University, suspended by the prosecutor's office. The editors based their program on the ideas of democratization of social life, emancipation of people, the mission of the intelligentsia, anti-clericalism, opposition against servility to the invaders, tolerance and international cooperation. Only one issue was published and confiscated, and the entire edition was impounded by the police in the printing house. Artur Gorski, the main initiator of 'Ruch', was soon tried, along with other editors of 'Ognisko', in the well known 'Trial of the Ten' (June 18th–July 5th 1891).
