The paper draws attention to constitutional protection of electoral system applied in elections to the National Council of the Slovak Republic, which was implemented through constitutional act no. 24/2023 Coll. After clarifying the context of adoption of the cited constitutional act and defining the term “electoral system” and its most important elements, the text describes what changes to elements of the electoral system remained available to the legislator even after adoption of the cited constitutional act. The remaining part of the paper is devoted to constitutional protection of selected elements of electoral systems in other member states of the Council of Europe and to comparison with the constitutional arrangement in conditions of the Slovak Republic.
