The article presents reflections on the nature and determinants of self-employment as a form of individual entrepreneurship based on an analysis of published literature and research results. It presents the opinions of intentionally selected group of 51 self-employed from the Pomeranian on the conditions and the pursuit of their one-man business. On this basis problems that still occur were diagnosed, the findings presented in the literature were confirmed, and expected improvement directions identified by the respondents were signalized.
