This work considers chivalrous culture, the everyday life and habits of the Drugeth family as typical representatives of the new aristocracy, which developed under the rule of Charles Robert (1301 – 1342), the first King of Hungary from the Angevin dynasty. Due to its origin (Gallici), contacts with the dynasty and political role at the court, the foreign Drugeth family brought Western influences to the young court of Charles Robert at Visegrád. Using new examples and comparisons, the author endeavours to analyse and illustrate the views existing in historiography regarding the role of the Drugeth family in the process of introducing Western, chivalrous forms.
