Józef Bańka (1934-2019) is an important Polish philosopher who created his own philosophical system called recentivism. The author of the article considers J. Bańka's philosophy of civilization to be the weakest point of this system, because it uses the categories of thymos (emotions) and phronesis (reason), which seems inappropriate for the study of civilizations.
