This article tries to show that the mission of journalists is to inform the society well, by interpreting events properly, and an essential factor in the performance of that task is the journalist’s permanent reference to ethics. These objectives are filled by the integral model of journalism. The characteristics of that concept refer to the necessary intellectual and moral qualities, which a journalist should have, such as their sensitivity to the truth, the search for autonomy, creativity in informational texts, and appropriate language and writing style. In his article, the author also indicates other concepts: objective journalism, interpretive journalism, new journalism and citizen journalism.
