Recent decades have seen interest in the form of organisation known as networking blossom, as the phenomenon has been examined in a variety of disciplines. Such interest has resulted in a large volume of empirical and theoretical studies and the evolution of a large body of literature, but has also translated into terminological fuzziness and a lack of clarity stemming from the multitude of varied, inconsistent, and contradictory theoretical conceptions. The main aim of the paper is to review what is being done in this area and to examine the current issues and substantial body of literature.
