Faculty of Pharmaceutics of the present Medical University in Gdańsk (previously - Medical Academy in Gdańsk) was set up in the extremely difficult post-war period. In 1946, by dint of determination and hard work of a group of persons, in Gdańsk was established the first academy educating pharmaceutists. A great share in setting up Faculty of Pharmaceutics - beside the scientists of the Institute of Technology in Gdańsk - had also the large staff, which left for Gdańsk from the University of Poznań. The problems they had to solve concerned dramatic dwelling conditions. It also wanted laboratory and educational equipment. Among eleven scientists of Poznań attending at establishing Faculty of Pharmaceutics in Gdańsk, among others, one can mention professor Wacław Strażewicz - the main coordinator of organizational works - and professors: Jerzy Tułecki, Józef Kołodziejski, Henryk Ekert, Witold Włodzimierz Głowacki, Stanisław Byczkowski, Adolf Fiebig, Stanisław Gill, Helena Tokarz, and doctors: Władysław Kasiński and Edward Wawrzyniak. The aim of the paper was not only revealing the significance of share of representatives of Wielkopolska in establishing and running Medical Academy in Gdańsk, but also commemorating the eminent scientists.
