Czech language, i.e. genetically and typologically closest language to the Slovak language, fulfiled, for a long period, a function of literary, supra-dialectal language formation in our territory. Thus, in the earlier Slovak, it became a copious source of borrowing of words and phrases. The study deals with description and attitude of the authors of The Historical Dictionary of the Slovak Language towards Czechisms. Moreover, it deals with the rules of their inclusion in the dictionary. Opinion of the author is based on the lexical database of the Historical Dictionary of the Slovak Language and she characterizes Czechisms of that period dividing them into six groups. The main part of the study represents a genre and stylistic division of Czechisms in pre-literary period of the Slovak language and their analysis; the largest group of professional terminology are botanical and zoological terms, followed by legal terms and administrative Czechisms.
