In 1809, the Franco-Austrian war significantly affected life in Pressburg (today’s Bratislava) and its surroundings. However, only a few ego-documents provide testimony regarding the events that occurred in this region. Chronicle entries of some Pressburg monasteries are a valuable source of information about these events. One of these is the Annales P. P. Capucinorum, housed in the state archive in Bratislava, which has so far escaped the attention of historians in this context. This contribution consists of a transcription and annotated Slovak translation of a selected Latin-written section of the Annales P. P. Capucinorum, which details events related to the military campaign of 1809. The relevant records cover the period from the17th May to 22 November 1809. To preserve authenticity, the transcription retains the original capitalisation. Abbreviated words are spelled out in square brackets. In the manuscript, subheadings appear as marginal notes alongside the relevant paragraphs.
