This study deals with sustainable theatre making in the form of one-man shows in the context of the artistic creations of the Goose on a String Theatre in Brno. In the first part, the author names the reasons for creating projects and productions of this form, which have always had both an artistic and a financial and operational character. In its artistic ideology, each project or production of this theatre is based on the concept of irregularity in dramaturgy, direction, scenography, incidental music, etc. Thanks to this concept, the Goose on a String Theatre has oriented its repertoire towards artistic and non-artistic forms, genres, and types that were untypical of Czechoslovak theatre culture not only when the theatre company was established (1967) but also in subsequent decades. With respect to organization, the creations of the Goose on a String Theatre were based on a theoretical study written by the director Petr Scherhaufer introducing a new mode of operation called the 1970 Model, by which the theatre was able to constantly re-conceptualize its activities. The second part of the study demonstrates how some of the sustainable practices were used in two major one-man show projects of this theatre, Mistero Buffo (1977) and Bluff (1982–1983).
