The article is a comparison of Jaspers’ diagnosis of the age with Voegelin’s analyzes. More specifically, the Author deals with the issue of leadership in mass societies and the problem of intellectual and spiritual premises of National Socialism, issues which occupied much attention of both philosophers. Comparison of these thinkers is even more reasonable as in metaphysics, philosophy of religion or their philosophical anthropology; there are a number of similarities among them. Moreover, in the centre of the text a question of intellectual and mental premises of the policy of mass society was placed. In the opinion of the Author, the convergence of civilization and political thought of Karl Jaspers and Eric Voegelin, by all means deserves our attention right now. Their spiritual, intellectual and moral recognitions are interestingly complementary and intertwined. Reading them in our day, we can understand the sense of classical political philosophy, which probably never lost contact with the civil point of view on world politics, a little better.
