Abstracts
Using the Russian translations of two Polish popular songs (Niech zyje bal [Long Live the Ball] and Rudy rydz [The Red Pine Mushroom]), the author analyses the translation strategies, which she defines as the translator’s consistent activity which demonstrates his or her striving to preserve certain characteristics of the given text (texts) or to modify it in a specific direction. The author’s conclusion is that a strategy should be characterized by consistency of the translator’s choices, which all aim to produce a certain effect, because only consistency of activities can show the goal set by the translator.
