Ján Bradáč was a notable figure in Myjava and an enthusiastic advocate for establishing a museum in the town. Bradáč’s diaries, deposited in the Museum of the Slovak National Councils in Myjava, are a valuable kaleidoscope of information about the Podjavorina region from the 7th July 1944 to the 1st December 1946. In his diary, Bradáč closely followed and evaluated the outbreak of the Slovak National Uprising and the preceding events. His diary includes reflections on the partisan movement, the activities of occupation units, the social situation in Myjava, etc. The author also assesses the final weeks of the People’s Party regime, the transition of the front, and the restoration of the Czechoslovak Republic. Diaries of Ján Bradáč provide an interesting insight into the lives of the inhabitants of the border town of Myjava during the period under review.
