Artykuł porusza problem rewitalizacji skoncentrowanej miejscowo na obszarach zdegradowanych. Omówione zostały procesy społeczne i społeczno - przestrzenne prowadzące do degradacji niektórych obszarów, przede wszystkim zjawisko wykluczenia społecznego oraz związane z nim procesy stygmatyzacji, efektów sąsiedztwa. Przedstawiono założenia i cele programów rewitalizacji obszarów zdegradowanych oraz zakres programów zintegrowanych zmierzających do kompleksowej rewitalizacji dzielnic, poprawy jakości życia mieszkańców oraz trwałego rozwoju dzielnic.

The paper discusses the issue of area-based urban regeneration programs focused on neglected neighborhoods. Discussed are social and socio-spatial processes that create disadvantaged districts: social exclusion, and related processes of stigmatization and neighborhood effects. Presented are underlying assumptions and goals of urban regeneration programs as well scope of integrated programs aimed at comprehensive regeneration of districts, improvement of quality of life of societies, and sustainable development of areas.
