Languages of publication
The purpose of this article is to analyse the connection between the works of Vladimir Odoyevsky with alchemy, along with it’s psychoalnalytical aspect. It was in this secret art, that Carl Gustav Jung found analogies with his studies of the human psyche. The Swiss psychiatrist described in detail his own view of alchemical transformations, regarding them as a series of psychological processes, expressed with a psychological, symbolic language. By finding a link between gradual individuation of the psyche, and a phase process of matter transformation, Jung succesfully explains causes of human behaviour. In similarity to these conclusions, the author of the article explains the bahaviour of the main character in Odoyevsky‘s Sylfida, showing coherence between his alchemical process and his personality.
