Technologie informacyjno-komunikacyjne (ICT) są powszechnie uznawane za istotny czynnik wpływający na zmiany zarówno w codziennym życiu, jak i gospodarce. Rozwój i upowszechnienie ICT wskazuje się jako powód poprawy produktywności, przyspieszenia tempa wzrostu gospodarczego czy poprawy konkurencyjności zarówno podmiotów rynkowych, jak i całych gospodarek narodowych. Celem artykułu jest zbadanie poziomu wykorzystania ICT w wybranych państwach zachodniej hemisfery. W artykule zostanie przeprowadzona analiza dostępnych wskaźników opisujących wykorzystanie ICT. Przeanalizowane zostaną wskaźniki opisujące gotowość do wykorzystania ICT (NRI) oraz konkurencyjność gospodarki w kontekście zaawansowania ICT (GCI).

Information and communication technologies (ICT) are widely recognized as an important factor influencing changes both in everyday life and in the economy. The development and dissemination of ICT is seen as an indicator for improving productivity, accelerating economic growth or improving the competitiveness of both market players and entire national economies. The aim of this article is to examine the level of ICT use in selected western hemisphere countries. Stated goal will be achieved by an analysis of available, aggregated, indicators describing the development of ICT. Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) and Networked Readiness Index (NRI) will be analysed.
