The article is dedicated to considering the history of Ukrainian social and humanitarian thought of the 1920–1930’s. This stage in the development of social and humanitarian science in Ukraine is distinguished by the tendency of uniting folkloristics, ethnography and sociology in theoretical and pragmatic spheres. In particular, this trend has been realized in the activity of Kateryna Hrushevska, a folklorist, sociologist and ethnographer, and in the content of her journal “Primitive society”. The problems of articles and researches published in it still remain urgent and may serve as the basis of development of more close relations between social and humanitarian fields of Ukrainian science.
