This study aims to examine the phenomenon of “sensitivity rewrites” in contemporary literary practice, focusing on intra-lingual translation as a means of making texts more inclusive and respectful. Through a comparative analysis of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, both in its classic and revised editions, the research integrates André Lefevere’s concept of rewriting. In this sense, “sensitivity rewrites” represent a socio-cultural shift towards inclusivity and diversity, aiming to eliminate stigmatizing language. The study highlights the dynamic nature of literary works as cultural artefacts evolving with societal values.
