The knowledge economy is based primarily on information and computer technology, and forces the organizations to implement new solutions. This entails the use of working methods employing computer systems. This paper discusses the possibility of using a knowledge management information methods. At first, the concept of computer methods are defined. Next, a typology of information technology methods is provided and their place in the process of knowledge management is pointed out. Finally, the barriers identified in the application of information technology methods in knowledge management are presented and the guidelines that can help reduce the effects of these barriers are discussed. The paper ends with a short summary.
