Własność intelektualna i jej ochrona coraz częściej stanowią przedmiot zainteresowania współczesnych ekonomistów. Uważa się, iż kategoria ta coraz silniej wpływa na poziom oraz tempo wzrostu i rozwoju gospodarczego poszczególnych krajów. Jest to jednak wciąż kategoria nie do końca zdefiniowana i opisana w literaturze przedmiotu. Szczególny kłopot i najwięcej kontrowersji budzi konstrukcja miernika ochrony własności intelektualnej, użytecznego w porównaniach międzynarodowych. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie głównych problemów związanych z konstrukcją tej miary oraz omówienie miar już istniejących w literaturze przedmiotu.

More and more often intellectual property and its protection become the subjects of economists attention mainly because of the increasing role of this category in modern economic growth and development. Unfortunately this category is still not welldefined in literature, especially the most controversial issue is the construction of the proper measure of intellectual property protection, which can be used in international comparisons. The main aims of this article are: describing the main problems connected with creating the measure of intellectual property protection caused by and showing the existing indexes.
