Abstracts
The article focuses on the way in which national identity was staged during the ceremony of reassembling and returning the Ban Jelačić statue to the main town square that took place on October 16, 1990 in Zagreb. Ceremony was part of president Franjo Tuđman’s policy of affirmation Croatian values. The analysis of performances during „The Week of Ban Josip Jelačić” and artistic program of event allows to describe it as a manifestation of own identity and festival of Croatian national symbols.
